R.H.Bott & Sons are currently looking at the potential for developing a small wind farm comprising three turbines on land north of the A602, south-east of Aston, and south-west of Benington. Each machine would generate enough electricity each year to supply around 1000 homes. Having undertaken preliminary studies it appears that the development of a small wind farm on this site is viable, and an anemometry mast to measure wind speed on site has recently been erected.
On behalf of the project, Engena have recently submitted a scoping report to East Hertfordshire District Council to define the issues that will be covered in the Environmental Impact Assessment (‘EIA’) required to support any planning application for the project. The Benington Wind Farm is being developed by the Bott family, who have farmed the land for the past 100 years. Further public consultation on the plan will take place in the early summer once elements of the Environmental Impact Assessment have been completed
